District Vice Principal, Early Learning and Child Care
Heather Androsoff is an experienced educational leader with a deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. She holds a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Education from the University of British Columbia. With a breadth of experience spanning early childhood to post-secondary education, she has worked in Burnaby as a child care provider, kindergarten and primary teacher, elementary and secondary learning support teacher, and Indigenous learning lead before transitioning to district leadership in Sea to Sky. She has also contributed to teacher education as an instructor and faculty advisor at both Queen’s University and UBC.
In her current role as District Vice Principal of Early Learning and Child Care at Sea to Sky School District, Heather is known for her thoughtfulness, openness, and authenticity. She works with the B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw and St’át’y’emc Nations, community partners, students, families, and staff to co-create an early years vision grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. As part of the district’s Instructional Leadership Team, she supports educators in aligning pedagogy and practice with the First Peoples and Lil’wat Principles of Learning, the district’s education plan, and key ministry frameworks. In addition, she leads the District Inquiry Program, guiding professional inquiry groups through the Spiral of Inquiry (Halbert & Kaser, 2022) as they collaboratively explore questions around living, learning, teaching, and leading in today’s educational landscape.
Her Journey with TELP
As a lifelong learner, Heather was drawn to Transformative Educational Leadership Program (TELP) in 2023-2024 by a desire to deepen her professional learning and expand her capacity as a systems leader. She valued the opportunity to engage with thought-provoking readings, network with peers across roles and regions, and explore possibilities in a collaborative and supportive setting.
Where She Is Today
Heather’s leadership journey has been profoundly shaped by the mentorship of Drs. Judy Halbert and Linda Kaser, whose work models the power of curiosity, networks, and equity-driven change.
“TELP has helped prepare me to navigate the complexities of our time with humility and compassion, and to lead with purpose and integrity. The program centers Indigenous worldviews and highlights story as a powerful tool for building authentic relationships, considering multiple perspectives, and inspiring positive change.”
Currently, Heather is working on a doctorate at Western Washington University in Educational Leadership while continuing to lead with an open heart and mind in pursuit of a more just and inclusive future for all.
