The UBC Faculty of Education is home to BC’s largest and most comprehensive teacher education program, preparing elementary and secondary teachers, special needs and First Nations teachers, counsellors, school administrators, school psychologists, and vocational rehabilitation counsellors in their chosen profession.

A legacy of exceptional leadership

For 40 years, UBC’s Faculty of Education has contributed to a culture of excellence in the field through the Educational Administration and Leadership Program (EDAL) program. Many of the program’s 800 graduates have strategic educational roles in schools, school districts, non-governmental organizations, and communities.

The Faculty also offers an EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy. This program prepares education practitioners with leadership and policy responsibilities both in formal and non-formal settings.

Many of the program’s 800 graduates occupy strategic educational roles in schools, school districts, non-governmental organizations, and other community settings.

UBC also offers a doctoral program, the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy. This program provides advanced preparation for education practitioners with leadership and policy responsibilities in both formal and non-formal settings. The program is grounded in the belief that it is important for participants to engage in scholarly discourse about understanding, critiquing and improving practice in educational settings.

For more than 50 years, the Faculty of Education has served the international education community through leadership in research, service, and advocacy.

UBC’s Faculty of Education is home to British Columbia’s largest and most comprehensive teacher training program, with 2014 marking the 40-year anniversary of the Indigenous teacher education program. UBC’s Faculty of Education prepares many of BC’s elementary teachers and secondary teachers for service in their chosen professions, as well as special needs and First Nations teachers, counsellors, school administrators, school psychologists, and vocational rehabilitation counsellors.
