Building a Community

This issue features the final presentation from several participants in TELP. We are pleased to introduce Jasmeet Virk, a graduate of TELP 2023. We asked her a few questions to give you a sense of what ideas you might find in her presentation. Enjoy!

Q1: Within the context of your presentation and the learning you have done since then, please choose a verb and finish this sentence.

JV: I used to think I can just follow and copy others and be on my Reconciliation journey, and now I know that this journey is a personal journey. You carve the path through your own experiences, your reflections, understanding your biases, and your commitment. Q2: Please finish this thought: After watching my presentation, I invite…

JV: After watching my presentation, I invite the viewer to accept themselves so they can grow in their journey through reflection and deliberation. Our journey starts from us. Get curious and stay curious!

Q3: Please finish this thought: As I engage in this work, it is important for me to…

JV: As I engage in this work, it is important for me to continue to talk about, experience, celebrate and live the Indigenous ways of being. We need to do all four, so we don’t just talk the talk, but actually walk it. It is only then the true Reconciliation will happen.
