Jon Rever | TELP 2015-2016
Director of Instruction and Assistant Superintendent
Jon Rever has dedicated 33 years to serving students and families in BC public schools. As Director of Instruction and Assistant Superintendent supporting a family of 12 schools in Central Okanagan, Jon has led teams in transforming educational outcomes for children and youth. His focus on strategic collaborations aims to create equity, inclusion, and agency for every student.
His Journey with TELP
In 2016, feeling that his knowledge and skills as an education system leader had “flat-lined,” Jon decided to join the first cohort of the Transformative Educational Leadership Program (TELP) at UBC.
“Learning at all levels is fundamental to the transformation of complex and diverse public education systems,” explains Jon. “It requires current and future educational leaders to be connected and engaged locally and globally — this is where TELP comes in.”
The program, led by Drs. Judy Halbert and Linda Kaser, introduced him to a diverse network of local and global educational leaders, transforming his mindset and deepening his understanding of systemic change in education. The connections and insights gained through TELP continue to profoundly influence his practice.
Where He Is Today
Jon continues to lead transformative efforts in education, striving to create equitable, inclusive and powerful learning environments for all K-12 students. His work emphasizes building evidence-informed, networked systems that drive continuous pedagogical improvement. Committed to lifelong learning, Jon recently enrolled in the EdD program at UBC to further his leadership competencies.
“TELP is intentionally designed to network educational leaders, deepen understanding of system change and develop important leadership skills,” said Jon passionately. “By improving ourselves as thought leaders, we work towards improving the outcomes and life chances of the students we serve.”
